Direct Flights Between Both Countries Would Start Next Year


PESHAWAR: Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Ali Alizada announced that next year, direct flights between Azerbaijan and Pakistan would start.  The initiative would help strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations between both countries. Furthermore, the direct flights would be helpful in strengthening of public contact of both countries. 

“Investors in Azerbaijan are keen to invest in potential sectors of Pakistan,” he said. He was speaking to the business community at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


Furthermore, Alizada expressed Azerbaijan’s attachment to the importance of improvement in relations with Pakistan.  He pointed out the importance of trade, economic and cultural relations among the two countries.

Moreover, the ambassador urged the business community of Pakistan to invest in various sectors of his country. He termed his country a great hub for foreign investors. He briefed about the potential sectors of Azerbaijan like information technology, software engineering, and tourism to invest in.


Alizada also assured the support Azerbaijan has given to Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. He stressed that the issue should be resolved as per UN resolutions. The resolution of the UN gives the people of Kashmir the right to self-determination.

Moreover, Sarhad Chamber President Maqsood Anwar also invited investment from Azerbaijan while speaking on the occasion. Additionally, he urged the investors to consider sectors like

  • hydroelectric power generation
  • oil and gas
  • liquefied petroleum gas
  • mines and mineral
  • gemstones

He also agreed with Alizada on deepening the relations between both Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Not just him but, former Sarhad Chamber president Faiz Mohammad Faizi and other members of the business community also gave suggestions for trade and economic links improvements.
