ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday took notice of adulteration in various basic commodities and medicines. Khan directed the concerned officials to collect complete data of adulteration from across the country. After the data collection, he will initiate an action plan to check the practice.
The PM expressed concern over adulteration practices while chairing a meeting regarding control on prices of edible items. Khan also took notice of the steps taken by the provincial governments regarding the price increase. He was concerned for various commodities, particularly in the edible items and medicines.
Khan Stated that the process of adulteration endangers the health of people, particularly the children. He considered it a serious issue.
“The provision of relief to the poor and low-income people is among the top priorities of the government,” Khan added. While taking notice of the price increase, he directed to take all administrative steps to control the price hike.
He also said that he will monitor the price check every week in a meeting.
Planning Minister Asad Umar also attended the meeting. Other participants included National Food Security Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
